Mrs. Susan Passarella
Hi, I am Mrs. Suzi Passarella and I am a Basic Skills Instruction and In Class Support teacher. Students at Deal School are offered enrichment in language arts and math. I cooperatively work with the regular classroom teachers to target skills students personally need. Sometimes you can find me working with students in their classrooms and other times students come work in my room. During the summer months I teach in the Summer Enrichment Program. I am proud to call myself a Deal teacher.
My teaching career at Deal School began in 2002. For many years I taught 4-5 Language Arts before moving to Basic Skills Instruction and In Class Support. One of my favorite activites at Deal is the annual Reading Carnival and School Luau. I also enjoy supervising the Student Council helping to plan and run their activities and dances. The Student Council sponsors many activities to help others in need such as Pennies for Puppies, Alex's Lemonade Stand and the Monmouth Ocean Food Bank.
Prior to coming to Deal, I was a 4th grade teacher in Asbury Park and a pre-school teacher for 10 years.
I am blessed with a family of six which includes my husband and four children, the last one just finished college, yeah! I am also proud to be called Nana Suzi by my four adorable grandchildren who add to our family legacy.
As a teacher I hope to model a good work ethic, a desire to do your best and a love for learning. I believe education can open doors of opportunity and I want to be an example that learning never ends no matter how old you are. I am learning Spanish! My hope is that students feel accepted and safe while at school and in my classroom. I love the students and teachers at Deal School.
If I am not at school you can find me at the beach, riding my bike, walking the boardwalk, reading a good book, knitting for charity and helping an orphanage of girls in the Dominican Republic.
