Mrs. Susan Passarella

Hi, I am Mrs. Suzi Passarella and I am the Basic Skills Instruction teacher. I am so excited Deal School implemented a Basic Skills program during the 2014-2015 school year.  Now students are offered enrichment in language arts and math.  I cooperatively work with the regular classroom teachers to target skills students personally need.  During the summer months I teach in the Summer Enrichment Program. I am proud to call myself a Deal teacher.

My teaching career at Deal School began in 2000.  For many years I taught 4-5 Language Arts before moving to the Basic Skills Instruction Teacher position. One of my favorite activites at Deal is the annual Reading Carnival.  I also enjoy working with Senorita Marmion on the yearly International Dream Flag Project.  In 2014, we presented our project at the New Jersey Teacher's Convention.  As Student Council Advisor I enjoy working with the students in the various activities we sponsor inside the school and for charity.

Prior to coming to Deal, I was the 4th grade in Asbury Park and a pre-school teacher for 10 years.

As a member of the Scholastic Advisory Board for their on-line teachers’ site, I enjoy trying their new ideas for Scholastic.com.  Check out their site, it is a great resource for kids, parents and teachers.

I am blessed with a family of six which includes my husband and four children, last one in college, yeah!  I am also proud to be called Nana Suzi by my three adorable grandchildren who add to our family legacy.

As a teacher I hope to model a good work ethic, a desire to do your best and a love for learning.  I believe education can open doors of opportunity and I want to be an example that learning never ends no matter how old you are.   My hope is that students feel accepted and safe while at school and in my classroom.  I love the students and teachers at  Deal School.  If I am not at school you can find me at the beach, riding my bike, walking the boardwalk, reading a good book, or knitting for charity.
